A Note from Robert Cutler, Author 

I Am One With God began with a very simple thought.

 For years, I would lie awake at night with my mind going in a hundred different directions. Like a lot of people, I found it difficult to turn off the noise. But there was one thought that always seemed to quiet my mind and bring me a sense of peace: I am one with God.

The more I thought about those words, the more I realized how powerful—and how universal—the idea could be. We come from different places. We have different families, beliefs, traditions, appearances and experiences. We don’t have all the answers, and when we look at the enormity of the world and the universe around us, there is so much we simply do not understand. But I have always believed there is something greater than ourselves—a higher power, an omnipresence that surrounds and connects us.

 Remembering that has always given me comfort.

 Originally, I thought I might write a philosophical book for adults. Then I had another thought: adults might not read it! But if I wrote a story for children, parents and grandparents would have to read it with them. Maybe, somewhere along the way, the message would reach all of us.

 That became I Am One With God.

 This book isn't intended to tell children what to believe or how to believe it. It isn't about judgment, and it isn't meant to be a religious lesson. It is simply a story built around an idea I believe is important for every child to hear: You are unique. You are special. You matter. And you are part of something much bigger than yourself.

 My hope is that children enjoy the story, have fun with the activities and conversations that accompany it, and perhaps begin to think about themselves and the world around them a little differently. And maybe the adults reading alongside them will too.

 There is a lot of noise in this world. Sometimes the greatest peace comes from remembering something very simple:

 I am one with God. And so are you.
