Affirmations to Instill in Kids As They Grow with God

In today’s partisan and material world, we find ourselves searching for hope, connection and fulfillment. Often, the search for hope and purpose leads us closer to God. That growing spirituality is a lifetime journey of learning that never ceases to fascinate and enlighten mind, heart, and soul.
When should this spiritual journey begin for our kids? In a Jan-Oct 2020 study, the CDC found kids’ mental health emergency visits increased 24% for ages 5-11. With the vulnerable state of the world and COVID-19 knocking the wind out of us, kids increasingly need coping mechanisms to maintain emotional well-being. There is a growing need to create resilience through spirituality in our childrens' lives earlier than we may think.

“"It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men."

~ Frederick Douglass

What do we need to start that journey with our children? Simply the willingness to make time, be present, ask questions and pass on our spiritual lessons. When we use our own life to personalize these lessons, we can make a genuine impact on the wellness of our kids. But when life or words fail us, all it takes is an affirmation.

Four Affirmations for Kids’ Spiritual Growth

(And hey, for us adults, too.)
  1. You are kind.

Though others may appear different from us, we are all alike with our desires and dreams—thanks to the soul’s light. Our Maker desires us to be kind in the face of our differences.

2. You are God’s Treasure.

God, our inner light, ignites our common aspirations to feel loved and to be confident in our own skins. We are made in Truth, and we are each God’s treasure!

3. You are thoughtful.

Thoughtfulness creates understanding who we are and how we fit into the world with others. It helps us discover the truth of our selves and appreciate the gifts of our Maker!

4. You are enough.

We are valued for the pure, simple fact that we have a Godly soul within. When we tune into that divine spark, we learn: You are exactly as God envisions you to be.

This sweet and uplifting book captures the core of what I teach my young students — we each have God within us, and that makes each of us special and at the same time, it connects us all to one another. What a wonderful message to encourage children to feel the divine light within themselves and shine it brightly in the world!
— Lisa Dvorin, Amazon Review
It beautifully articulates the complexities of self discovery for tiny readers, while reminding us that we are never truly alone. 🙏🏻 Whoever or whatever you believe in - to be able to believe in anything (especially during these trying times in our world) is such a gift.
— The Sharon Moms, Amazon Review
This is a beautifully written and illustrated story that sweetly and lovingly reminds us all that we are perfectly created to love and be loved even though we’re perfectly imperfect!

After a successful career as an entreprenuer, Bob Cutler did what most 62-year-olds do: retired to the police academy. In 2018, he achieved a life-long dream of becoming an officer of the law.

Since then, he’s served and protected as a police patrolman in Lake Lotawana, Missouri.

Another one of Bob’s goals? Write a children’s book. “I Am One With God” is his first book.

Bob has three grown children, is a grandfather, and lives in Kansas City.
